First Doctor's Appointment

We packed the boys up for their first outing today to meet their pediatrician. Both boys were so good; sleeping through the car ride and in the waiting room, although Matthew did manage to pee on the wall while he was getting weighed...lol!!
The doctor was very happy with their progress and weight gain; Matthew just under 8 pouns and Reese just over 8 lbs.

Due Date

Today is Reece and Matthew's official due date. The occupational therapist and doctors told us that all references to their progress are based their adjusted age which means today they are 1 day old. Do these look like one day old babies?
We have a hard time believing it since both boys can hold up thier heads, grab and follow things with their eyes and stay up for extended periods of time. Especially Reece; we call him our little toddler because he is so big and eating so much already.

They're Home!!!

After 78 days in the hospital, Reece and Matthew finally got discharged on Monday, January 11, 2010. Both boys are doing great and look like full term babies. At their last hospital weigh in Reece wieghed 3.390kg, that's 7 pounds 8 ounces!!! and Matthew wieghed 3.320kg, that's 7 pounds 5 ounces!!! It is hard to believe they started out at just about 2.5 pounds.

We are so thrilled to have them home and look forward to all the adventures our future has in store.

Day 67

We thought Dug was going to get the most amazing birthday gift this year... Reece coming home. Reece had been spell free for a week, passed his car seat test, had his feeding tube removed and was tolerating all of his feeds orally... all signs that he was ready to go home. BUT the night before he was to be discharged he had a brady while taking his medications. This was followed by two days of losing weight from not feeding well and having his tube put back in. He continued to have spells until we finally took him off his meds and he is a much happier camper now.

The nurses joked that Reece just didn't want to leave without Matthew so he purposely had a spell so he could stay longer. And funny enough a few days later Matthew had a spell so his seven day count down had to be restarted and later that day Reece had a spell too. LOL After finding them all cuddled up in bed like this I think the nurses might be right. They love being together. :)
